What if Count Dooku Became a Grey Jedi? Let’s explore the depths of it in the video.
As Dooku walks off, he feels his heart heavy with everything that’s happened to him. The report about Qui-Gon’s head plays through his mind once again, explaining how the Jedi Master met his end at the hands of a Sith warrior, one with skills the likes of which the Jedi Council has not seen in centuries.
With this, a hundred questions are running through their mind, wondering whether he is the master or an apprentice, where they came from, and how they are affiliated with the Trade Federation.
Dooku does not ask any of these. He already knows the answer to them, and his chest grows heavier. Though the Jedi cast the blame on Maul, the true culprit of this is Palpatine. He was the man responsible for his apprentice's death. But not just him, also himself.
The Jedi Master feels a stab of guilt as he finishes reading the report, and he knows that he could have acted on it. He knew about what would happen; he knew what Palpatine was capable of, but he allowed himself to be lulled into a false sense of security. His partner had promised that no one would get hurt, and he was dumb enough to believe him.
By the time he returns to his quarters, he sees the reports messages left by Palpatine, contacting him and urging him to meet up with him to discuss the Aftermath of the Naboo Crisis and what can be done moving forward.
Dooku already knows what will happen. There will be no condolences or words of comfort for the life that was lost, simply a cool reminder that their goal requires sacrifice and a promise of the future. But these promises are no longer enough for the old Jedi. He’s seen what he’s cost and knows it will only cost him and the galaxy much more. Although he does not agree with the Jedi’s methods, Dooku is done with the Sith and does not answer.
Instead, he packs up his things and leaves the Jedi Order for the last time. However, he leaves his communicator there as evidence for Palpatine’s and sends it to one of the few masters he trusts, Yaddle.
When the Jedi find it, a strike team is deployed to arrest Palpatine, but it ends disastrously as Palpatine kills most of them, leaving Yaddle and Plo Koon as the only survivors. They do not learn his identity, but they are now aware of the Sith Master and are on high alert. Palpatine knows this as well, and without his partner to do his dirty work, he must lie low until the Jedi’s search dies down.
This is just what Dooku hoped, as it gives him free rein to act upon his master's plan. While they had not worked together long, Dooku had learned the key points of this Sith Grand Plan and some of the potential allies and flash points that Palpatine wished to exploit, and began working to counteract them.
He also knows about the corruption of the Senate, and Dooku begins to counter both of them. No longer serving the Jedi Order, Dooku is finally unbound and ready to unleash justice as he sees fit.
Count Dooku moves through the galaxy like a shadow in the stars, slipping between worlds torn by war and crushed under the weight of corruption. He knows these are the places Palaptine hopes to exploit, so Dooku denies him that opportunity by solving the crisis before they can rise.
He understands the rot within the Senate, bribery buried beneath protocol, and violence masked as diplomacy. The Republic's promises ring hollow. Their people are exploited and left to suffer the consequences. Palpatine will never repair this damage, so Dooku does this himself.
Across these worlds, the Count hunts down pirates, negotiates border disputes, and uses his immense wealth to support them. He appoints administrators, removes corrupt senators, and trains soldiers to protect them. His teachings are clear, and that is the Republic cannot be relied upon.
He does not speak as a Jedi, nor as a Sith. He speaks as a man who has seen too much and stayed silent too long. Each time he does this, Dooku is tempted to unleash his full power upon them as he tried to do at Wayyl. But each time he feels the darkness creeping up around him, he recalls the look of Qui-Gon’s face when he did this, his soothing voice, and how he’s managed to calm him down. Each time he does that, he calms down and feels the anger fading.
Whatever Palpatine has taught him is no match for Qui-Gon, and for a time, this leaves Dooku struggling to harness his powers until he combines the two. By now, he has long abandoned the Jedi Code and lets his emotions fuel him in this endeavor, but he still hesitates to tap into the Dark Side.
He empowers governors to resist manipulation, trains Force-sensitive outcasts left behind by the Jedi, shelters exiles who feel abandoned by the Republic, and welcomes talented administrators untouched by the war.
