What if Palpatine Defeated Mace Windu Before Anakin Arrived? Let’s explore the depths of it in the video.
Mace watches as his Jedi companions fall around him and grips his lightsaber tightly. Palpatine smiles and rushes at him, his lightsaber flashing in quick, powerful bursts that slash at him.
With nothing left to hide, Palpatine can unleash his full fury upon the Jedi. The powers of the dark side flow through him, practically oozing from his body. The darkness is nearly overwhelming, and Mace realizes just how his comrades fell. The power is like nothing they have ever encountered. Not even Dooku wields this power with as much control and passion for it. This is a man who fully embraced the Dark Side.
Mace steadies himself for the next attack, feeling the dark energy from the blow, but his purple lightsaber comes up and catches it, then twists it around. He pushes it down and uses the Force to drive the chancellor back.
Palpatine slides against the ground but comes at him again, leaping up and whirling his lightsaber in a blinding arc. Mace twists his arm around, dodges each strike, and parries the strikes, letting them slide aside.
He takes a deep breath and tries to focus. When the blow comes again, he channels the dark energy and absorbs it, letting it run through his body before throwing him back. It stops Palpatine for a moment and sends him stumbling back.
Mace takes the chance to throw a counterattack. Their lightsabers strike as the dark energy that Palpatine unleashes begins to halt. As MAce gets some breathing room, he advances upon Palpatine, letting his lightsaber rain down on him, blows that stagger the chancellor.
Seeing his success, Mace rushes forward to finish the job, but Palpatine suddenly raises his lightsaber and shoves it upward. Though surprised, the Jedi manages to absorb the blow; the dark energy is nearly overwhelming, and it takes all his focus to redirect it.
Palpatine doesn’t give him the chance to recover as he thrusts his hand up and unleashes a burst of lightning. The Jedi stops mid-stride to intercept the strike and push it aside. For a moment, he manages to stop the attack, redirecting it, but this is more difficult than he expects and soon feels how overwhelming the energy is.
Then, his defenses falter, and the lightning washes over him along with all the Dark Energy that powers him. Mace screams out as his body is thrown back and howls. His entire body shakes and nearly falls over. This distraction is enough for Palpatine to rise almost casually. He smiles and continues to direct the lightning at him for a long moment before finally driving his lightsaber into his chest.
Mace’s eyes widen as he feels the blade pierce his heart and then he gasps. He blinks and looks down, his lightsaber falling from his hands. A moment later, Palpatine wrenches it free, and he stumbles to the ground without another word.
Right at that moment, the door opens, and Anakin runs inside. One hand is reaching for his lightsaber but falls away when he sees the aftermath of their duel. His eyes widen as he stares at Mace’s body and then at Palpatine.
Anakin: W- what happened here?
Palpatine: It was as I feared, my boy. The Jedi have attempted a coup. They tried to come here and murder me! I had to defend myself.
Anakin: No, that’s not what should have happened.
Anakin stares up at Palpatine, racking his brain and still trying to make sense of everything. He told Mace Windu and the Jedi to deal with Palpatine. He expected they would try to arrest him. To take him into custody so that they could restore the Republic. But it would also allow Anakin to continue learning in secret.
But as he looks at the damage from he fight, he realizes they weren’t fighting to apprehend, they were fighting to kill. As Anakin shifts his gaze back to Palpatine, he realizes that he has completely underestimated the chancellor. Even after he revealed himself to be a Sith, Anakin was still confident the Jedi could defeat him. If he could defeat Dooku, then four experienced masters could defeat Palpatine.
He tenses as Palpatine places a hand on his shoulders.
Palpatine: My boy…I understand your predicament. You had no choice in the matter. The Jedi were looking for any reason to act, correct?
Anakin: y-y-yes….
Palpatine: And you had come here to help me after realizing their intentions were not as honorable as you expected.
Anakin: Indeed. I thought they would just try to detain you for trial. But they wanted you dead.
Palpatine: I thank you for your concern, and I will teach you everything in time, but first, we must deal with this threat. Go to the Jedi Temple and exterminate them.
Anakin: Exterminate them?
Palpatine: We cannot allow them to strike again. Travel to their temple and destroy them before they can regroup and strike again.
