What If the Jedi Council Helped Anakin Heal After Losing His Mom? Let’s explore the depths of it in the video.
Anakin marches through the Jedi Temple, looking like a warrior marching into battle. These last few days have been a whirlwind of emotion, even with the outbreak of war, that has been the least of his concerns. In a matter of weeks, he finally married the woman he loved, lost his arm, and fought in his first battle. But the pain and joy he suffered from these events are nothing compared to the sting of losing his mother.
Her death has rocked Anakin’s world and left his head spinning. Even now, he is still struggling to make sense of everything that just happened as he marches towards the Jedi Council Chambers to hear what they have to say.
Inside, he finds several Jedi Council Members waiting for him. Kit Fisto, Plo Koon, Shaak Ti, Ki Adi Mundi, and even a few non-council members. Anakin bows to them.
Anakin: Masters, I hope I did not do any wrong.
Aayla Secura: No, we summoned you because we heard of your mother’s passing.
Anakin: Oh…I understand your concern. But rest assured that I will not let my emotions cloud my judgment.
Obi-Wan: Anakin…we’re here because we want to be here for you.
Anakin: What?
Plo: Young Skywalker, you just lost your mother. No member of the order will fault you for letting your emotions out.
Kit: Indeed, to lose your mother in such a way… any of us would have broken down.
Shaak-Ti: That is why we wish to be here for you in these trying times. You are one of us now.
Anakin: Masters, I’m overwhelmed. Thank you so much.
The other Council Members all nod and offer their comfort. They encourage Anakin to sit down and join them. Some offer wisdom to him and kind words. Soon enough, Yoda and Obi-Wan bring out some drinks for them to share as they gather together on the floor.
Each Jedi takes turns, sharing stories of their own grief, talking about the loss of Padawans, masters, and friends. They advise on how to cope while others give them condolences. But not all stories are sad, others share fond memories and stories that bring laughter and levity. Especially once Kit Fisto jokingly asks Aayla Secura about her relations with her new Clone liaison, earning him a slap from the Twi’lek Jedi.
Anakin listens to all of this as he sips his drink, hardly believing what is happening. Even Obi-Wan shares his loss and how he dealt with the death of Qui-Gon. He says how training Anakin was the only thing that kept him going.
Obi-Wan: Anakin, I know these are not the same, but what matters is you find something that gives your life meaning, now more than ever. Find something that gives you purpose. What is it?
Anakin: I want to help people. Since she passed, all I can think of is how to prevent this from happening again…I don’t ever want to lose someone again.
Ki-Adi-Mundi: Death means a return to the Force, you should accept that and take solace that she is one with the Force.
Everyone pauses and glares at the Jedi Master until he announces that he will be quiet.
Shaak-Ti: Your compassion and drive are admirable, young one. But that is not as easy as it sounds. Death is as natural as life. There are ways though, to heal and ease the pain of others.
Anakin: I’ve never been good at healing.
Shaak-Ti: You’ve always struggled with attachment, this I know. But your emotions can be a powerful tool
Anakin: But I thought that the Jedi do not allow attachment. Won’t emotions get in the way?
Aayla: Those are two different things. Letting go of attachment does not mean suppressing emotions, it simply means knowing when, where, and how to use those emotions in the Force.
Anakin takes these words to heart as after his talk with the Jedi, he begins attending healing lessons in the Temple’s infirmary. He is welcomed with open arms, many having heard of his desire to help people and encourage him to become a healer.
The lessons are difficult and Anakin struggles to use healing techniques that come so easily to younger Jedi. But they encourage him to keep trying. They remind him of his feelings about the loss of his mother and to use his desire to help others as motivation. Each time he does, he feels a surge of power and then slowly, he begins to develop his abilities.
His healing powers start to grow. It starts small and there are many people to practice with. With the war breaking out, the Temple overflows with refugees, clones, and Jedi from the front lines. Anakin puts his training to good use, helping those injured recover from the smallest of cuts to severe blaster wounds.
Of course, even with his growing skills he cannot save everyone and each loss weighs heavily on his mind. But whenever this happens, he has kind people around him to help and reassure him.
