The emperor grins and reaches for his lightsaber while Mas Amedda hurriedly departs. Palpatine: So it’s… treason, then? He raises his hand, and blue lightning erupts from his fingertips, hurtling across the room with deadly force. Yoda raises his own hands, intercepting the attack and deflects its energy back toward Palpatine. The Dark Lord leaps aside as his desk explodes around him. But he doesn’t let the surprise get the better of him as he lunges forward, their blades meet in mid-air. The Jedi Grand Master glances back at him as he rushes at Palpatine again. He doesn’t move in a straight line, zig-zagging at astonishing speed. His small form turns into a blur as he strikes. Palpatine steps back, blocking each attack and feeling the sparks flashing at his feet. He keeps the attacks back, but the Jedi Master is stronger than he expected. Yoda: Power you have, but wisdom, you lack. Short-lived, your reign will be. Palpatine’s face twists in fury as he swings with renewed fury. The blow would have decapitated him, but Yoda is somersaulting back. He raises the charred remains of Palaptine’s desk and flings it at him. The ashes explode everywhere, leaving the emperor temporarily blinded. He tries to swing his lightsaber by using his other senses, but it is imperfect and he struggles to block all of Yoda’s attacks. Palpatine fails to anticipate a harsh kick that sends him crashing against the wall. He barely rolls aside just as Yoda drives his lightsaber against the wall. Palpatine: The dark side is stronger than you could ever know, Yoda. Your precious Jedi Order is finished! He throws a push that sends Yoda stumbling back. Palpatine tries to repeat the attack, but the Jedi ducks underneath it. He counters and sends Palpatine stumbling out of the room, leading them onto the Senate Chambers where they leap onto one of the Senate pods. A whirlwind of Senate pods begins to tear free from their moorings. Palpatine hurls one after another toward Yoda. The Jedi Master calmly evades, flipping and jumping with an agility that defies his age. He lands atop each pod, using the Force to launch himself to safety with minimal movement. Finally, he catches a pod midair, stopping it in place. With a fierce look, he hurls it back at Palpatine, who barely dodges as the massive structure crashes into the chamber wall, shattering. But as he avoids the pod, Yoda comes leaping forward, his lightsaber slicing against Palpatine’s chest. The Emperor screams in pain and collapses to his knees. The agony is overbearing and he tries to stumble aside. Yoda does not give him the chance to escape though and although he feebly tries to block the attack, Yoda drives his lightsaber into the Emperor’s chest. As Palpatine’s body crumples to the ground, he breathes heavily, feeling the exhaustion nearly overtake him. Despite that, Yoda knows he cannot stay. He had defeated the head of the monster, but the body was still writhing. He deactivates his lightsaber and runs off, leaving Palaptine’s body where it falls. Unfortunately, Yoda’s worries are proven correct weeks later when he reunites with Obi-Wan. Even with learning of Obi-WAN’s Victory and Anakin’s death, they see from the holo-net that the Senate led by Mas Amedda has used Palpatine’s death as a way to further condemn the Jedi. He claims that they have turned their back on the Republic. He proposes that Jedi are to be killed on sight. His plan is met with overwhelming approval by the Senate who applaud and vote in support. One of his agents, Vice Admiral Edmon Rampart even proposes to raise a new army of conscripts who are not loyal to the Jedi or the old Republic. They will act as the new force to hunt down the Jedi and mop up the remaining CIS rebels. The two masters look at one another just as Bail Organa contacts them and warns that they are no longer safe. Bail: The clones will be hunting you, Master Yoda. I suggest you get to safety. Obi-Wan: Safety seems to be getting rarer and rarer. Bail: Indeed. Although, you will be pleased to know that Ahsoka Tano survived. I was in contact with her during Senator Amidala’s funeral. She is…doing well. Or as well as can be expected. Yoda: Contact her for me, you must. Know the young Jedi’s tale, I wish. In the Dagobah System, I will be. Obi-Wan: And I will take Luke to safety. Be safe master, and you senator. Yoda thanks them and makes his way to the Dagobah System.
