What is an audio matrix on a mixing console (analog vs. digital)

An overview of what a matrix is and how to set it up on an analog and digital console. In this video, we use an Allen & Heath GL2400 (analog) and a Presonus Studiolive Series III (digital).
This video was made in response to several questions/posts about what a matrix is. Matrix mixes are considered a "mixer within a mixer".
