This video is a translation of what King JeongJo wrote for Concubine Ui after she passed away. It is a combination of the epitaph and a eulogy. Please forgive the simple video, it took me awhile to finish this difficult task of translating what he wrote and making this video. If you need more time to read, please pause the video to read and think about his feelings when he wrote these.
He wrote these more than 200 years ago as a King, so please do not be too judgemental on what he said. The content gave an interesting glimpse into life back then. To me it was a moving tribute and gesture he did for the love of his life - Sung Deok Im (Concubine Ui). I could really feel his love for her and his grieve. The original text were in ancient Chinese and I although I can read them, I have to refer to several modern transcriptions of some difficult parts. I have tried my best to convey his meaning.
Just as he hope for people to remember her, this video is a tribute to King JeongJo for all the good he did for his country and the dedication he had for the love of his life.
