📚Description: The Gibson "Pro" Deluxe is often just a footnote in Gibson's history and barely talked about but in doing a deep dive on the history of this model I came across some unique things! The Pro Deluxe was produced from late-1975 until 1982, but the main production years were 1976-1980. Versus a normal deluxe, it featured an ebony fretboard and p90 pickups instead of rosewood+mini humbuckers. Additional differences include the PRO model getting the better Gibson-branded Schaller M6 tuners and speed knobs before the 1978 transitioning point for other guitars. Neal Schon of Journey fame used one of these, but he later routed it for humbuckers and a floyd rose! It recently sold at auction for $250,000.
