The Atlanta Falcons faced the Washington Commanders in week 17. A must win game for both teams as they fought for a spot in the playoffs. This matchup also featured two of the best rookie quarterbacks from the 2024 NFL Draft, Michael Penix and Jaden Daniels. Penix made his 2nd career start and did not disappoint as he was accurate and gave the Falcons life after a slow start to the game. The Falcons made the switch to Penix late in the season after Kirk Cousins struggled for multiple games. The Falcons fell short in this game after forcing overtime on a late 4th quarter scoring drive. Penix and the Falcons offense did not get an opportunity in overtime.
Penix stat line for the day was 19/35 223 Yards 1 TD 1 INT.
