Troubleshoot serger tension problems - Samples of “wrong” stitches
If you would like to print out a chart describing serger stitches, click here:
https://tinyurl.com/SeamsEasySergerStitchChart
If you would like to make your own samples using your serger, you will need a 12” square of medium to heavy weight interfacing (nonfusible)
Cut out:
6 - 3” x 3” squares
Label these:
Lower looper (red) too loose
Lower looper (red) too tight
Upper looper (blue) too loose
Upper looper (blue) too tight
Right needle (green) too loose
Left needle (yellow) too loose
2 - 4.5” x 4.5” squares to be serged together around the sides showing stitch length
1 - 6” x 4” rectangle, labeled “Correct Stitch”
These samples of incorrect tension settings will help you identify what the problem might be when you see your threads stitched as shown on your samples.
