"Deus ex machina" is a Latin phrase meaning "god from the machine." It originally referred to a plot device in ancient Greek theater where a god would be brought onto the stage using a machine to resolve a complex situation or conflict. Today, it describes a sudden and often improbable resolution to a problem in a story, usually involving an unexpected intervention that saves the day. While it can be effective in some narratives, it’s often criticized for being a lazy or unsatisfying way to wrap up a plot. Both Anos voldigoad and Altair have been accused of being Dues ex machina’s by some in the anime community and honestly, I can understand why. The nature of their abilities sorta just allows them to escape any situation no matter how dire in their own unique ways. Although I’m not sure if I agree or disagree with this criticism, I wanted to analyze booth these characters to see what exactly makes them so powerful and how exactly they both fit into this description. 8:30 I accidentally combined two songs together while editing the video. Hope it doesn’t bother you too much. The song you can barley make out is Song Rise and Fall https://youtu.be/uj3Gif77SYM?si=EOtp2yP8N1ZK12OJ which is a song by the artist/channel Myuu or MYUU https://youtube.com/@Myuu?si=bD5sZQSFw939y-Al Music in Anos section: https://youtu.be/e98rnOEZzQw?si=OjjVWi_4vexUIQ4W Other songs are randomly picked out from the YouTube audio library https://youtu.be/lW11Nuou_8Q?si=U8xkUyvQ7iHX36j8 https://youtu.be/UP457lLBZls?si=WtcOwovIyzl3Ba_u https://youtu.be/dk4qy6spITM?si=Usz7P9DnunDdC050 #anime #manga
