On Saturday, November 15, 1958, 6 Boy Scouts headed to Madera Canyon to hike Mt. Wrightson (formerly Mt. Baldy) outside Tucson in Southern Arizona. By all accounts, it was a perfect day for hiking. During their ascent, they noticed massive dark clouds in the sky. But they continued their hike. As the day wore on, so did a few of the boys. Three turned back, and the other continued. This decision not to turn back would have monumental consequences.
