Which eBike motor is right for you - 18 eMTB Engines - Guide 2023 | MTBT

Lightweight eMtbs, which have recently appeared on the market and their demand is increasing precisely because the riding sensations are very close to those of a traditional MTB. For this type you have a very light motor and so compact that you can hardly tell if the bike integrates a motor.
The batteries are also limited and it all leads to a very light e-mtb.

The classic e-mountain bikes, the so-called All-Round bikes, whose motors offer enough power for any use.
The weight of these motors ranges from 2.6 up to about 3 kg.
While the capacity of the batteries varies from 500Wh up to 900Wh and in some cases with external mounts you can even go beyond that.

The third category is the particularly powerful e-bikes, whose motors are valued by those whose goal is to get to the top as quickly as possible and then maximize the fun all downhill. The weight of the motors ranges from 3.6 up to 3.9 kg with power output ranging from 100 up to 120 Nm while the battery capacity ranges from 620 to 750 Wh. This eMTB category thus differs in motor power, battery capacity and also in overall bike weight.
