January 8th, 2025 marks twenty years (!!!) since the most-anticipated AMA Supercross opener ever, Anaheim 1 of 2005. With Ricky Carmichael and James Stewart finally squaring off in a race after nearly a dozen years of anticipation, Chad Reed looking to hold them both down as defending champion, and Jeremy McGrath and Travis Pastrana coming back to racing, the star power and mystery was at all all-time high as the race approached. Consider that none of those five riders had raced each other in supercross the previous year, at all! It was all too much and the Moto Gods drowned it out through an El Nino and the Perfect Storm. The winner? None of them. Jason Weigandt tells you why it's the most anticipated AMA Supercross event ever. Not the best, but the most hyped.
