POURQUOI et COMMENT remplacer un BOCAL de liquide de FREIN ?

I have an issue with the brake fluid reservoir on my car.
It's not broken, there are no leak but the brake light stay on on the dashboard.
If I unplug the connector on the reservoir, the brake light switch off.
I replace the brake fluid reservoir by a new one and the issue
is solved.
The car is a BMW 5-series E39 but the system is the same on other cars.
