I heard about a beach on the Big Island of Hawaii that was absolutely green with gemstones, so I had to go check it out. What I found was mind blowing. Millions upon millions of green gemstones known a Peridot. Most were very small, but many were big enough to concentrate with a gem sieve. This trip has been a dream of mine ever since I heard of this beach, and I was SO happy to be able to go check out the green beach of the Big Island of Hawaii in person. I highly recommend this adventure to anyone.
Green sand beach is officially known as Papakōlea.
*Note* If you visit this beach you must leave all the sand for other to enjoy. Take pictures, take video, take memories, but do not take sand!
