China’s aggressive maritime actions are expanding up the First Island Chain. Beijing has installed a new, 50 meter-tall structure in sensitive waters near a disputed maritime boundary, recalling China's disputes with claimants in the South China Sea. And late last year, Japan says China conducted its first drill of a blockade in the Miyako Strait close to Taiwan.
