Learning clutch control can be a challenge for a new driver, but what is it's purpose? Why do we need a clutch? Many automatics also have a clutch or two but there is no clutch pedal as the clutch is controlled by a computer. The reason is because the engine has to spin quickly but you need to be able to stop the car. The clutch disconnects the engine from the wheels to allow the car's speed to be independent from the engine. In this video I explain and demonstrate what the clutch does and why some cars need it in more detail.
