Our romantic relationships are some of the most charged aspects of our lives and it can be very triggering to look at ourselves as the cause of our own pain. I was stuck in the dynamic of "everything is my fault" and "he is not doing his work, which causes me a lot of pain" all my adult life. These polarising emotional swings can be excruciatingly painful, and very difficult to break free from - because it requires us to drop down our walls, learn to take responsibility for how we show up, and stand for our needs and desires. A lot of it requires looking at our own trauma and ego structures that resulted from trauma.
