You may have heard of the RetroTink4K. Specifically regarding the outrageous price. For most, such a high entree fee would most certainly not be worth it. However I found extremely beneficial use with the Tink4K that makes it worth every penny. The CRT filters. With old CRT displays getting more challenging to find, and modern retro releases not including good CRT filters in most cases, the Tink4K becomes a CRT replacement by being able to inject frighteningly effective CRT visuals to any console up to 1080p. The Tink4K then essentially becomes a perfect substitute for consumer CRTs, to PVMs, HDCRTs, native 720p/1080p tvs, and high end CRT PC monitors. With that in consideration then the price of the Tink4K becomes a lot more justifiable to me and that's not even talking about everything else this scaler can do.
As an aside, I tried to prevent as much CRT filter compression artifacts by rendering this video at 4K, a first for me. It should go without saying that such CRT filters will absolutely not look as good in this video as it does in person. So please only take my video capture as an approximation of what the filters could look like. Watching in fullscreen is the best way to reduce compression artifacts. Only in person with your own eyeballs do the filters really shine.
