Japan is overly romanticized. I've been going there annually since I was 13 years old. I will forever love this country, but it's not really "all that."
Disclaimer: I LOVE Japan, its culture, and its people. These are just my genuine experiences and barriers that make it hard to assimilate. Every country has its own set of pros and cons. I'm sharing these raw insights with those who are curious. If you're considering moving to Japan, especially Tokyo, think well and think again. These are my experiences and it’s up to you to take what you need from these anecdotes. I want to add to the conversation on how Japan is usually a lovely country to visit, but living in it is another story. *For those with varying opinions, that's alright. You can definitely share your thoughts below, I encourage them for healthy discourse _but please be kind and constructive!_ This is a safe space where all thoughts are welcome except for hate.*
Here are my unfiltered thoughts, experiences, and lessons from living in Tokyo for some time. I was lonely in Tokyo, but it came with many life lessons and I was able to form a whole new worldview from the things I did while living there. Is Tokyo really as amazing as everyone says?

Disclaimer: these are my thoughts and expriences on Tokyo and not Japan as a whole. I a yet to live in other parts of Japan if I have the chance.
