Why Indie Animation Alone Won't Save The Industry

Video Not Working? Fix It Now

So far, 2024 has been a big year for animation with movies like Inside Out 2 and Despicable Me 4 breaking the box office records. There are other animated movies like Transformers One, The Wild Robot, and Moana 2 coming out later this year, and at least one of them are expected to be really good and do great in the box office too. But as well as animation has done when it comes to appealing to the masses and generating revenue for Disney, Pixar, Illumination, Dreamworks, and other major studios, the work behind the creation of these projects has been very brutal for animators. This is why animators and other workers involved in the media industry are fighting back against their corporate bosses. However, a few of them also took the route of doing their art independently from the mainstream media industry. Despite the success indie animation has had recently with shows like Murder Drones and The Amazing Digital Circus, the odds of it replacing the current media giants are unlikely.
