Following the Great Ocean Road inland to explore the majesty of the Great Otway National Park. Please SUBSCRIBE to support our channel and follow our travel adventures - https://bit.ly/32WZUjn.
The Great Otway National Park stretches from Torquay through to Princetown and up through the Otways hinterland towards Colac. The park features rugged coastlines, sandy beaches, rock platforms and windswept heathland and beautiful spring wildflowers. In the north, the park features tall forests, ferny gullies, magnificent waterfalls and tranquil lakes.
We're starting out at Maits Rest. This is a must-see for anyone passing through the Otways; a stunning 30-minute loop walk through one of the few patches of temperate rainforest in the region. Towering myrtle beech trees - some 300 years-old - and an understory of lush greenery and tree ferns lends an other-wordly feel to this area.
After the tranquility of Maits Rest we go on the lookout for a bit of adventure at the Otway Fly Treetop Walk. The 600 metre-long, 25 - 30 metre-high elevated walkway provides unrivalled views of the unique beauty of the region’s flora and fauna, from the rainforest floor up into the soaring heights of the treetops. In the centre of the walkway is a 47 metre tall Spiral Tower and cantilevered walk perched above Young’s Creek. Not for the feint hearted!
