Deepscapes are fake. Or are they?
In this video, I dive deep into one of the most misunderstood genres of astrophotography: deepscapes.
Unlike wide-field shots of the Milky Way, deepscapes blend deep-sky objects - like the Andromeda Galaxy, nebulae, or star clusters with earthly landscapes using telephoto lenses (like my 70-200mm). The result? An images that look surreal... but are rooted in real data and real planning.
Yes, the Andromeda looks huge and I’ll explain how compression, perspective, and focal length work together to create these bold visuals, and why it’s time we stop calling them “fake.”
