Beebe Plain, a small village in Derby Line, Vermont, has the unique distinction of being the only place in the world where an International Border splits 1 street down the middle into 2 countries. That street is Rue Canusa (Canusa Ave). Everything south of the yellow median is the United States of America, while everything north, is Stanstead Quebec in Canada.
Derby Line also has many other bizarre legal border crossings and anomalies, such as the Library and Opera House being in both the US and Canada, as well as certain houses being in the USA, while their backyard is in Canada.
Why was the border drawn in such a strange way? And what is life really like for the 700 Americans and 2800 Canadians who live in this fascinating border town? Join me on this epic road trip to find out!
