Weaving is not difficult at all - that's something we still know from handicraft lessons in school. However, it has little to do with professional weaving on a handloom. Hand weaving is a complicated and elaborate process that requires great expertise. Margarete Horle is a master of this centuries-old craft. In her workshop in Bockenheim an der Weinstraße, the hand weaver shows how a high-quality fabric is created from fiber. To do this, she needs a good feel for patterns, colors and materials, technical skill and a lot of patience. Margarete Horle lets us in on the secrets of warping, beaming and tying and explains why the time-consuming setting up of the loom is so important.
