…I did it. I finally achieved perfection on the hardest 3-Hole course in Wii Sports Resort.
THAT’S 7/7 THREE HOLES PERFECTED!!!
This is the most difficult thing I have ever achieved in a video game. Yes, this was far more painful than my eighteen holes PB, it’s not even a competition. The previous record was -5. In case you’re wondering, I tied that score FORTY-FIVE times before this run.
I wanna thank @_Mur45ak1_, @minexenim9526, and especially @alnik001 for the help and inspiration they provided along the way, this would not have ever happened without them. Also, inspired by alnik doing the same on his 18-hole record, I have uploaded a video of me getting an eagle to prove I play on a real console - youtu.be/LgYVX1XLh0U
If you want to have fun playing the game… do not attempt this run. Please don’t do it to yourself. Perfecting these holes is entirely unforgiving and pretty much on a different planet compared to the main eighteen. This score was a culmination of around seven months and hundreds upon hundreds of hours of grinding, just to hit three eagles in a row.
Was it worth it? Yeah. The experience of playing the course may have been awful, but it’s given me the ability to connect with the community and create some awesome stuff to share with everyone. I am currently crafting many resources and guides to aid anyone who wishes to tackle this course in the future. You’ll need it. Now, here are my final thoughts.
*Hole 19:*
As you can probably imagine, this hole had to be at an incredible level of consistency to have a chance at this run. Indeed, I am confident in saying that this is easily the hole I am the best at now, and the one that I have chipped into more than any other, even Hole 1. My strats will be shared soon, because I would estimate that I have around 200 lineups memorised, and easily over 400 recorded. How long it took to score the Eagle varied sometimes. On worse days I might only get the chip-in every 5-10 minutes or so, whereas on high performance days I measured that I could be consistently hitting the Eagle around every 90 seconds. In this run, I even got the exact same conditions as in my original -5 score, which feels sort of poetic, doesn’t it?
*Hole 20:*
Welcome to the most difficult hole in the entire game. I couldn’t possibly describe everything about this hellscape in one video description, but in short… the cliffs and the evergreen tree encroach on the rough and fairway, vastly limiting your spaces of movement and accessibility to many strats with most pins; The green is sloped in unpredictable ways, causing the ball to bounce in wildly different places with just a few ticks of aim change; The fairway between the bunker and the green is not only very thin - making its use in chipping the ball correctly require a lot of expertise - but is also covered by trees that will completely ruin Iron shots when the ball is caught, and despite that can be used to chip through with Spoon and Driver, but with insanely precise setups that require pixel perfect power.
So you can imagine how proud I was of this shot! I had performed this eagle a month or two earlier with the Caddie Practice mod, and I had encountered the conditions again a couple times in normal play as well, so I knew the setup. I correctly remembered and judged it, but still checked just in case. As you can imagine, at this level of a grind I don't want to be taking any more risks than necessary.
*Hole 21:*
Ok, so hole twenty is still the hardest in the game… on average. However, the shape of this hole’s green is so incredibly difficult to utilise to get Eagles, your chance of chipping in at this point is almost completely ruined if you get one of the three pin placements on that I would consider close to humanly impossible. At the very least, they would take hours of searching with mods to find setups for, and are close to impossible to adapt to in a live run, because this hole constantly lags and overpowers your shots. Therefore, I would personally consider this to be the most RNG heavy hole in the game.
So when needing a chip-in on this hole, the back pin is a godsend. This pin is unequivocally the best, as it is the most consistent and easiest to roll back into, like in this run! I didn't have a setup, I just had to adapt, and smashed the best shot I've ever hit despite my crazy nerves. Deep down, there's a part of me that wishes I could've managed the -6 with a different pin placement, just to show how far I've come and how much knowledge I've gained... but at the same time, I'm just glad this is over.
