Please visit us at: http://botany.boy.org/ The Hengduan Mountains of western China harbor a dizzying array of flora due to their position between the vast cold Tibetan Plateau and subtropical forests to the south. Another reason for their diversity is the extreme range of elevation found here, between 1000 meters in the deepest valleys, and over 5000 meters on the highest peaks. In this video we visit the valleys of northern Sichuan to see some of the terrestrial orchids of that region, most of them in flower. I tried to include as many species as possible in this video, so stand back and be amazed at the incredible range of orchids we saw on a botanical tour of the Min Mountains in June 2013 (27 species in all).
