Here I am finally installing a 10,000lb winch and factory tow hooks onto my 2016 Ram 1500. I have had this winch and the hooks for over 5 year and have been putting it off for too long so I was determined to get it done over the holiday break. It would have been embarrassing to be stuck in the mud and have a brand new winch in the box at home. Anyway back to the install... for this project I fabricated some custom mounts from scratch and even modified a ratchet extension to replace the clutch release lever. I also replaced the handheld winch controller with two switches, one in the cab and one under the hook to make it alot more convenient to operate. Finally as a safety feature I added a separate solenoid to cut the power to the winch when it is not in use so I don't accidentally hit a switch and so a short circuit would be less likely to happen.
