Video Not Working? Fix It Now

This is gameplay from WipeOut Phantom Edition, which takes the original PlayStation 1 source code of WipeOut 1, by Psygnosis, adds some enhancements, and recompiles it to run on Windows PC's. Phantom Edition automatically re-formats its display for wide and ultra-wide displays and lets you easily play this landmark future racer on modern systems. The higher resolution really shows off the graphic design prowess of Designer Republic, and if you've got a good sound system the pumping CoLD SToRAGE music helps set the pace. You might recall that the first WipeOut game was kinda cruel in its race physics: it pre-dated the dual-shock analogue controls, so steering was digital. Also touching the side of the track would bring your craft to an abrupt halt. This was fixed in the sequels, where scraping the track walls would only slow you a little. Phantom Edition lets you choose between three different physics options, two of which are much more forgiving. The original physics remains there as an option, but it's not the default. Because it sucks. :-) It's certainly easier to get through the first set of tracks with more relaxed wall collisions. But, it's not a complete walk in the park. For me, with my slowing reactions as I get older, it's the ideal way to revisit one of the best early PlayStation 1 games. In my first video of WipeOut Phantom Edition I pointed my phone at the a curved Titan Army ultra-wide display to show off how great it looks in ultra-wide aspect ratio and played three tracks — Karbonis V, Firestar, and Arridos IV. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fMDHHVUNVsQ In this video I played it on a standard wide-screen, with the NVidia settings tweaked to antialias all those gorgeous polygons. But the textures remain pixelated, coz that's the way I like it. This time I opted to play all of the Venom tracks, including the hidden Mars course. I played them as single races to show off all the teams and racers. (The Mars course was unlockable by a long sequence of joypad keys in the original PlayStation game. In Phantom Edition it and the Rapier class tracks can simply be unlocked by choosing an option in the game's menu's.) My only teeny tiny gripe with this version of the game is, because the tracks load near instantly, we don't get to see that old-school spinning CD icon any more. I'll capture some original PlayStation gameplay so y'all can see what that looks like.
