The concept behind the Virso is to offer users an affordable, cableless wireless audio system that has an ultra-long battery life that can be used for three-people interviews, vlogs, documentaries, etc.
I am not the biggest fan of these clip-on wireless microphone systems as I personally would never want a large microphone in the shot with a big branded label on it. Why companies feel the need to do this is beyond me. However, you don’t have to use them as clip-on mics because the kits do come with Lavalier microphones as well.
What makes the Virso S different from other options on the market is that RX unit features an innovative hotshoe mount that can slide directly onto the Multi Interface shoe of Sony cameras. This allows you to have a completely cabless solution while not tying up the 3.5mm input. The Virso S RX unit sends audio directly from the Multi Interface shoe. Godox doesn’t mention whether the Multi Interface shoe also powers the RX unit.
