Thinking about heating your home with wood?
Here's a review of a mid-priced steel and soapstone-constructed stove. It's a hybrid model, which simply means it has two different systems for secondary burn.
Using this stove, I am burning nearly 30% less wood and enjoying MUCH more even heat than my old heavy cast iron stove. Long after the fire goes out, the stove will remain 250F+ on the surface.
A good pair of welding gloves, stove top kettle, log carrier, coal rake, ash shovel, ash bucket, ash pan, laser thermometer, magnetic thermometer, wood moisture meter, small shop vac, and indoor firewood bin are all must-haves in my mind.
Red Oak burning here at 16% moisture rate after test split.
Burn on. 🪵 🔥 🙂
