My beautiful amazing wife asked me to make her some unique candle stick holders. These banksia seed pods definitely create a unique look and capping the pods with some Sapele hardwood gave a nice touch. This was a rare project that I had to purchase the materials. Banksia pods come from a woody shrub/tree native to Australia. I was able to source these seed pods online from Rockler, though there are many different online options. My wife’s favorite color is green, so I chose to use Sibafu Green from Eye Candy Pigments with a little Sumi black to darken it up a bit. As always, the deep pour epoxy resin from Superclear Epoxy worked perfectly. I chose to finish this piece with Clean Armor 700 UV cured finish and was again blown away with how easy the finish process was. My wife says she really likes the pieces and they are currently on our dining table. Thank you very much for watching and I hope you have a wonderful day!
