I had some fun with this project! The feature ring was constructed of ebony, walnut and paduak. I used western quilted maple for the rest of the bowl. I had no idea how much the quilted maple liked to chip out. There was quite a bit of that on the segment joints that required a sharp negative rake scraper and lots of sanding. The ebony, walnut and paduak turned beautifully on the lathe. I think each of those colors really compliment each other.
