World War Two Tank Battles on Screen - which ones are the best?

Video Not Working? Fix It Now

Today we look at the the films and TV shows which have depicted tank battles set in the Second World War. They will be a lot of familiar ones and a few less well known, but what we will try to do is look at what is presented accurately and well. Before looking at fiction, we talk a bit about actual footage. The documentary At the Front in North Africa from 1942 can be found on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-vBymPlZeU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJwah8YpfCs&t=2217s We also think about the famous footage from Cologne in 1945, and I would recommend the book by Adam Makos, Spearhead: An American Gunner, His Enemy, and a Collision of Lives in World War II (2020). Vidcaps taken from respective dvds of the films and series, so obviously copyright to the respective studios. 00:00 Introduction 06:00 The Real Thing 18:48 Tanks in films and men against tanks 24:36 The Winter War 25:36 April 9th 26:12 Punishment Batallion 999 28:48 08/15 29:00 Stalingrad 30:18 They Fought For the Motherland 31:12 The Bridge 32:06 Hollywood and the Bridge at Remagen 34:12 Saving Private Ryan 38:36 Panfilov's 28 AKA Battle for Moscow 40:12 Final Stand 44:48 Cross of Iron 47:00 They were not divided 54:00 A Bridge Too Far 56:12 The Battle of the Bulge 01:03:24 Band of Brothers 01:09:00 Tali Ihantala 1944 01:16:48 White Tiger 01:20:48 Invincible 01:26:49 T34 01:44:26 Battle of the tanks AKA Saints and soldiers into the void 01:52:12 FURY 02:11:00 Kelly's Heroes 02:20:36 Conclusion
