Before I started down the path to becoming a children's book author/illustrator I felt like I didn't understand how the process works, and what you do at each step of the way. So now that I'm on the other side of a traditionally published book, I'm excited to break down how it went and what happened at each step of the process.
The most important take aways are that if you want to write and illustrate you will need a book dummy, if you want to just write, you need a manuscript, and if you want to just illustrate you need a portfolio. I show examples of this in the video :)
Please also check out the other videos in the children's book playlist for questions about how to get an agent, my digital art set up, and my entire illustration process!
Best of luck!
