Video Not Working? Fix It Now

This computer science video compares the RGB colour model with the YCbCr colour model. It shows how both RGB and YCbCr can be visualised in three dimensional space, and how the grayscale relates to both colour models. The evolution of YCbCr from YUV is mentioned, along with the need for YCbCr as a means of encoding digital TV and video. The purpose of the luma component, Y, and the two chroma components, Cb and Cr, are explained. The key benefit of YCbCr as a colour model that separates the luminosity (brightness) of a pixel from the colour information is also explained. This makes conversion from RGB to YCbCr one of the key steps of the JPEG image compression algorithm. Attribution: Clip of The Adventures Of Sir Lancelot.
