Hi guys, I was keeping up with this drama through some highlight clips on Youtube since maybe the second or fourth episode, but I didn't actually watch the whole thing until it finished on the first, hence the delayed video. Initially there wasn't much hype nor were there any cast members that drew me to the series. I tried watching it from the beginning after episode six aired but I just couldn't get myself to. It was only after I saw their full love story through all the clips that I decided that it may be worth seeing the side stories and contextualizing their love. This drama was really good and tugged at my heartstrings. It had all of the elements of a good romance, and it tears my heart knowing that it's based on real historical records. While watching the drama, I actually didn’t want them to end up together, because I knew that would cause them more pain, especially for Deok-Im. She always wanted to live by her own will and make her own decisions but at the end she was not able to choose for herself. And maybe it’s the feminist side of me that just can’t forgive Yi San for essentially forcing her to stay that night and changing her whole life, but I really wish there were some way she could maintain her lifestyle. Maybe that way, she would have lived to give birth to her third child and then maybe she would have been much happier. The whole ending is a big what if. I know Deok-Im loved Yi San but love is not all. I hope the two of them finally find happiness, as a couple and as individuals in their afterlives. They truly lived in the wrong era which brought about so many misunderstandings, hurt feelings and time wasted. It’s such a tragic love story. Update [221004] English subtitles are now available. It took me six hours so I hope you use them if you need them. I'm also never doing this again cause it was quite painful when I lost all progress I made in 4 hours.
