Here are my (not so brief) thoughts on the second re-release from Yokomo, the 1983 YZ-834B. Also known as the Dog Fighter, this is considered to be one of the first 1/10 electric 4WD buggies commercially available.
Some unusual features of the 834B include a midship mounted motor with power transferred via a chain and gears fore and aft respectively. At the rear you'll find a gear diff, but the front uses one-way hubs. Suspension wise, up front, there's a relatively modern double wishbone mono-shock arrangement and at the rear more traditional trailing arms and mono shock. Back when this first came out, it was at the cutting edge of RC tech and its quirky styling captured the imagination of a generation of enthusiasts. After a long wait, Yokomo has finally re-released the iconic YZ-834B to the masses of eagerly waiting RC enthusiasts.
A proper running video will be coming soon. I'm also planning to put this head to head against my recent Optima "CS Spec" build to see which one performs the best on a high grip indoor carpet track.
