Baba Iyer, who has been an intimate devotee of Sai Baba for the last 70 years, relates an anecdote about a gentleman from Calcutta who came to Shirdi with his family. They were robbed of everything on the train and the man believed that their trip to Shirdi was so unlucky that he was left penniless and had to depend on complete strangers for money for food, and for tickets to get back home. He vowed that he would never set foot in Shirdi again, but Baba Iyer told him he believed that one day he would definitely return, Sai Baba would ordain it. And he did return, a completely transformed man.
