In this video Matthew talks about one of best herbal home remedies for coughs, the wild cherry tree! There are two species of wild cherry in the Southeastern US. The first is black cherry, aka Prunus serotina, which grows widespread throughout the whole Eastern US. The second species is Carolina laurel cherry, Prunus caroliniana, a Deep South species. Both work as excellent cough suppressants, relieving pain and inflammation in the lungs, as well as expectorants that help the body expel sticky phlegm.
Wild cherry is a wonderful and fast-acting medicine that is even safe for kids! In the 1800's it was one of the most popular herbs in American domestic medicine, and it's still in use today!
