How did rural youth live in the early 70s? What difficulties and problems did they have? How could one find one’s place in society and become not just a resident of the province, but also bring some benefit? Was it difficult to adapt to the new team if you are just starting to work and you have a conflict with the head of the collective farm? What about the social and everyday patterns of relationships between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law? You can encounter such a baggage of problems when watching the Soviet four-part feature television film “Yurkin Dawns”.
A dramatic film story filmed by the Kyiv Feature Film Studio named after Alexander Dovzhenko and directed by Nikolai Ilyinsky. This is the story of a simple guy, Yurku Khmel, who was demobilized and decided to get a job in a collective farm organization, where he was assigned the position of secretary. The film tells the viewer about the life and beliefs of the young man, his goals, and his aspirations to achieve them. But what about love? You can’t go anywhere without her, so you will also find touching moments of tender love between the main character and Zhenechka, his fellow villager.
Yuri is convinced that the work he has to do on the collective farm is very important and necessary for young villagers, and he spreads his enthusiasm to other villagers, thanks to his innate leadership qualities.
