This duett was composed in Prague in the 80's and dedicated to the well-known duett "Duo di Basso" with the prinicpal cellist and double bassist of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, respectively: František Host and Jiří Hudec.
Some years later, after the formation had lots of success with this piece, the composer has written a "Rondo" which was meant to be played as an encore piece.
It makes me very happy that this video will make it possible for many people to hear this amazing piece for the first time. I have recorded it with my amazing collegue, Prof. Martin Ostertag finally after so many years and chamber music concerts we played together in the past years- this is indeed our very first recording we have done together.
On the day of the recording, my whole audio equipment was there suddenly totally useless, as the AC-adaptor of my PC died and there was no way to record the sound from the professional microphones via the firewire interface. Fortunately, out of pure coincidence I had also my portable audio recorder, a little Zoom H2n somewhere in my bag and it obviously has done quite a great work here as our real saviour.
