I want to share my personal journey of growth, especially for anyone just starting out in wildlife photography—or really, any hobby. The core message I want to convey is simple: If you’re passionate about something and commit to it consistently over time, you will improve. You may not become the best, but you’ll definitely get better.
Zero to Nat Geo shares the story of how I went from being a beginner wildlife photographer to making steady, incremental improvements—culminating in recognition from National Geographic and Canadian Geographic. The photo that earned this recognition was taken in Newfoundland in July 2024, featuring a trio of Atlantic Puffins.
