Zoom H5 in 2023: a review

Video Not Working? Fix It Now

In which I review the Zoom H5 Handy Recorder 3/4 the way through 2022. Is the H5 still worth it in 2022? Spoiler alert: Yes... it is. I did a lengthy review of the H5 and included a brief look at the menu system, a 360 view of the device, some mic tests, and a couple of field recording samples. I chose to record the audio for this video using the Røde NT1A large diaphragm microphone into the H5 because the NT1A is the quietest mic in the world and you can have a listen to the preamps without wondering if it's the mic that is causing a little noise. For contrast, I used the NT1A mic into the Sound Devices MixPre 3 II recorder for the menu portion of the video so you can get a sense of how a high-end recorder sounds with the same mic.
