The education system in Kerala needs to be reconsidered from a broader perspective. With English as the medium of instruction, it is essential that children are moulded for the future in a way that prepares them for global opportunities, as English is widely spoken worldwide. While Malayalam, as the mother tongue, serves its purpose for communication and writing, it should not limit the scope of education. The Kerala state syllabus needs a thorough review and reform, especially when compared to the CBSE syllabus. A student completing the CBSE curriculum is generally better equipped than one following the state syllabus. Parents must be more discerning in their choices and consider enrolling their children in the CBSE stream, rather than sticking to the state syllabus, where the free education system and the 'all-pass' approach may limit their children's potential.
