Sauriya Pahariya, one of Jharkhand’s Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs), predominantly reside in the Sahibganj district. In Patana block, relentless mining activities in their hills have severely impacted their lives. Blasting has disrupted natural water sources, triggering an acute water crisis, while dust pollution from mining has led to rising cases of lung diseases among the PVTG population. The destruction of their habitat threatens their traditional way of life and health. Despite their vulnerability, the situation remains largely ignored.
