Let’s make fasting special pithale and bhakri today. Surprised, aren’t you? But yes, today we are making upwas special pithale and bhakri, that too made by my mum!! Many people fast on all 9 days of Navaratri. Then for them having something healthy and tasty is a task. So I am trying to help you out with these problem. I am trying to show you different upwas recipes those are not only easy and simple but also delicious. If you are bored of having the same sabudana recipes for fast then this is a good alternative for you. You can try this recipe at home and drop a comment for me. Ingredients:
Pithale
• 1 cup Peanuts
• 2 tbsp ground nut Oil
• 1 tsp Cumin seeds
• 2 tsp Red chili powder
• Salt to taste
Bhakri
• 1/4 cup Sabudana
• 1 cup Varai / Vrat ke chaval
• Pinch of Salt
• Water as needed
Method:
• Soak raw peanuts in enough water for about 2 hours and blend them into fine paste in mixer.
• Avoid using water while blending. Add a little water if needed.
• Heat up ground nut oil in a pan and add cumin seeds.
• You can use ghee in place of ground nut oil.
• When cumin seeds splutter, add red chili powder and mix well.
• Add the blended paste and mix well.
• Add salt and mix well.
• Cook it on medium heat for about 4-5 minutes until oil is released from it.
• When oil begins to float over the mixture it means the peanuts are cooked well.
• Turn off the gas and pithale is ready.
Bhakri
• Blend sabudana well into powder in mixer and add varai.
• Blend it together into as fine flour as possible and strain it through a sieve. Flour for bhakri is
ready.
• Mix the bhakri flour and salt well together.
• You can skip the salt if you don’t want.
• Add a little water at a time and knead soft dough.
• Knead the dough really good for at least 5 minutes until it becomes nice and smooth.
• Take small portion from the dough and make it smooth and even.
• Sprinkle dry flour on the rolling board and place the dough ball on it.
• Pat it into as thin bhakri as possible.
• If needed you can dip your hand in dry flour while patting the bhakri.
• Heat up a skillet and transfer the bhakri on it.
• Spread water on it after about a minute and flip the bhakri over when the water is almost dried.
• When lower side is roasted well, flip the bhakri over and roast it directly on the gas.
• When the bhakri is roasted well from other side too take it off on a wire rack. Bhakri is ready.
• It remains nice and soft for 2 days!! Serve the bhakri with pithale.
