Today’s recipe is homemade gulabjam premix and gulabjam from it. This is a very easy and simple recipe. Generally we buy premix from the market and make gulabjam from it. But if you can make it at home, then why to buy it!! The premix looks perfectly like the one that we but from the market. The gulabjam made from it turn out nice, soft and juicy. They absorb sugar syrup really good. You can easily make super delicious gulabjam, perfectly like the ones bought from the market at home without any compromise in taste!! Isn’t it a fantastic idea? This premix needs very few ingredients and it is not that costly. And you can make 2 kilo gulabjam from it!!
Ingredients:
Premix
• 1 cup Milk powder
• 1/2 cup Maida
• 1 tbsp Ghee
• 1/2 tsp Baking powder
Gulabjam
• 1/4 cup warm Milk
• 1 1/2 cup Sugar
• 1 cup Water
• 4~5 Green Cardamom
• Oil for frying
Method:
Premix
• Mix milk powder, maida and baking powder well together in a bowl and add ghee.
• Mix well with hand until the mixture turns crumbly. Gulabjam premix is ready.
• You can store the premix in an airtight container or jar or zip lock bag. It has shelf life of about 3
months.
Gulabjam
• Add warm milk into the premix and mix well to until it comes together.
• You might need to add more 2-3 tsp warm milk to make the dough.
• Roll out small balls from the mixture and make them smooth and even. Gulabjam are ready to fry.
• Heat up a pan on medium heat and add sugar, water and cardamom.
• Mix well and bring to boil on high heat.
• When sugar begins to dissolve and mixture begins to boil, turn the heat to medium and cook the
mixture for another 5 minutes.
• When the mixture turns sticky, turn off the gas and sugar syrup is ready.
• Heat up oil on high heat in a pan and when the oil is hot enough, turn the heat to low and drop
gulabjam into it.
• Fry gulabjam on low heat until they get nice golden color from all sides.
• When gulabjam are fried well, take them out, drain excess oil and transfer them into hot sugar
syrup.
• Soak them in sugar syrup for at least 4 hours. Gulabjam are ready.
• You can make medium size 32 gulabjam from the premix we made.
• Store them on an airtight container once they cool down completely.
• They remain good for about 2-3 days.
