Hidden in the Lisora valley are the remains of the only ancient gold panning site on Swiss territory - the Aurifodina Garavée or Bombinasco. For centuries people have been puzzled as to how and why the stone heaps were created. Even modern archeology is not yet fully aware of it.
2000 years later a gold mine was operated up in the valley - today's La Costa visitors' mine near Sessa. The Swiss Gold Prospectors' Association visited it in autumn 2022.
