我們是要講淨土法門，為什麼我講到人生的樣貌？因為你得懂人生，你淨土法門才念得下去；你不懂人生，你不懂佛法，念佛你也念了，你就念得邋裡邋遢的，因為你搞不清楚為什麼要念。從這裡講過來，你就慢慢知道為什麼要念。
我們不是沒聽到佛法，但是習氣太重，就想玩樂，為什麼？樂在眼前，修行解脫在未來嘛，這樣的娛樂感太吸引人了，我剛剛講那豬腸子太好吃了，沒看到它裝大便時的樣子，我們就覺得美味可口。我們沒看到眾生貪愛，貪瞋癡的財色名食睡這些東西的背後的骯髒，你就老愛它，這習性如此，明明臭的東西，你覺得很香。
你對佛法的理解就開始不當一回事兒，因為習氣重過佛法，因為累劫我們在這習氣當中，太習慣了，就像那個廁所裡的蟲，糞坑裡頭蛆，你把牠放清水 牠反而會死，為什麼？因為牠習慣那麼髒。
